One Direction stormed the Teen Choice Awards in America yesterday, winning three gongs for Choice Summer Music Star Group, Choice Breakout Group and Choice Love Song. AND it has officially been two years since 1D were put together on The X Factor, so a mega weekend all round for the boys.
The accepted their awards in true A list celeb style, via video link up. And what a video link up it is! We lolled. Before letting out a whimper as to why the boys couldn’t be there to parade their DIY skills in the flesh. However when we realised this was only due to them being busy recording new tracks for the album in London, peace was restored.
It seems not everyone thought the awards were worth such toil, trouble and general kerfuffle over, as Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart gave away their winning surf boards to members of the audience. Their collection, which included The Ultimate Choice award, was handed over by Pattinson as he said "I don't know if I'm allowed to -- can I give this to the audience?,"
Then again, with a casual FORTY of the awards already being scooped by the film since 2008, we suppose there’s already a bit of a squash on the mantel piece.
Other highlights included a performance by the one and only Justin Bieber (vid below), who swept across the stage like some kind of wonderful vision of the future in his tin foil-esque get up. A happy birthday sing-a-long for Selena Gomez, who looked like she hated it. And celebs on the red carpet joining in with Carly Rae Jepsen's show closing performace of Call Me Maybe.
